I just spent a week in San Francisco on "businesss" , the day after
we landed it seemed more like home
but undeterred I braved the elements in true "Brucie" style
, a moment after this, that wave caught me right up the a$%e .
At the end of the week of brain washing , the weather had cleared up by Wednesday and was craking the flags, I decided to do something everyone should do.
Yep , I hired a Harley ! Totally out of character for me I know, but only tractors were available at short notice on the Friday. I took it down California 1 (the coast road between San Franciso and LA) with the Pacific on my right and then up into the hills overlooking Silicon Valley. After a 100 mile blatt (or is that potatoe, potatoe? ) of twisty mountain roads (when on a "hog" and they say 25MPH bend, do not try taking it at 40, the boards scrape out!). I finally got back to the hotel, just look at the grin !
Did I mention it was for 24 hours ? The next morning I got up , packed
my cases , put the in the car and was off again on the tract^H^H Harley.
I decided to to the "Bay Tour" , through San Franciso, up the hilly bits,
down across the Golden Gate , better weather
this time, I crossed just before the mist rolled in off the hill. I then
went right round the bay , over the Ricmond Bridge and the Bay Bridge,
sorry I have not got a photo of the Bay Bridge , but there was no where
to stop. And so ended 24 hours of fun, I would never own a Harley over here,
but if you ever get the chance to ride one in the states then do it, either
they are made for the roads , or the roads are made form them.
